QED announces future-proofed Performance HDMI Active Optical Cable for high-end 8K installations

British audio specialists QED has today unveiled the new Performance HDMI Active Optical Cable – a future-proofed HDMI cable designed for high-end home cinema installations and available in 20m to 50m lengths.

QED has been designing and engineering superior analogue and digital cables for over 45 years, as well as setting the benchmark for high-performance HDMI cables. With the new Performance HDMI Active Optical Cable, QED has developed a ground-breaking and staggeringly capable HDMI cable that meets and exceeds today’s high demands for AV equipment.

The QED Performance HDMI Active Optical Cable is designed for use in high quality custom installations and home studio environments that require longer lengths of cable. The cable features a hybrid arrangement that combines copper core with optical fibre to create a cable that resists data degradation even over extremely long lengths – from 20m to 100m – and which doesn’t require an external power supply to operate.

Compared with conventional HDMI cables operating at the edge of their length-restricted capabilities, QED’s Performance HDMI Active Optical Cable features reliable technology that delivers optimal performance over such long distances.

A fully future-proofed cable, the HDMI Active Optical Cable is perfect for use with high-end projectors and TVs featuring the latest technology. The HDMI Active Optical Cable is able to handle all current and upcoming HDMI 2.1 standards: it is fully compatible with 8K resolutions at 60Hz, 4:4:4 and can transmit data rates of 48 Gb/s over long lengths.

The cable is also compliant with HDCP 2.2 specifications and supports HDR, eARC, multi-channel audio formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as next-generation game console technologies.

The cable features a Low Smoke Zero Halogen jacket and complies with rigorous UK and EU Reaction to Fire regulations, meaning the cable can be professionally installed and concealed securely within the structure of a building. Customers can have absolute confidence in the knowledge that the HDMI Active Optical Cable will function perfectly for years.

The cable has zinc-alloy HDMI connectors for enhanced durability and performance, while triple-shielding further protects the cable against interference for optimal signal quality.

Available to buy in 20m to 50m standard lengths, and custom lengths of up to 100m by special order, the Performance HDMI Active Optical Cable is available now at www.qed.co.uk
